I never knew you had those!

I've 130 just general films that I've actually brought. About ten have gone missing over the years. I've got about 200 films taped of TV and stuff.

As for series, I never really collected them. For some inexplicable reason I have the pilot episode of Twin Peaks.............

I haven't done so well with DVD's though.

Yet.

x AudioHeaven I must admit, for sheer 'what the fuck is going on'ness it was great. Took me about 10 years to finally see the last episode though.

I liked the theme music too. Strangely haunting.

Actually thats given me an idea for the AudioStadium.

x Billy_Tascademo I'm an enormous David Lynch fan, but I missed the second series. It's about the only Lynch stuff I haven't seen, so I'm gagging for them to release the second series.

Yeah...not his strongest. It was trying to tie up loose ends from Twin Peaks just cos he had the budget to do it, rather than doing his whole psychogenic fugue scariness.

Have you seen "Mulholland Drive". That is also very odd, but much better.

x psyklone I watched Mulholland Drive twice and I still don't get it.

The first time I missed 15 minutes of the movie (early on) and was lost for the rest.

The second time my girlfriend explained it to me, but I kept questioning things because I just didn't like how it all held up in place.

David Lynch makes my brain hurt.

x Billy_Tascademo If you go into a David Lynch film expecting there to be some key that allows you to "get it" you will be sorely disappointed. It's all about tone and atmosphere and tone, about the experience of the film. Perhaps this won't make you like the film any more palatable to you, (people who dislike Lynch tend to REALLY dislike Lynch), but that's the way I approach his stuff. I just love his dialogue, and the dark things he hints at and...well, the romance of it all as well.

Plus, girl on girl action.

x Jess Classic.. Lynch doesn't just hint at dark stuff, he bashes you repeatedly over the head with it. Dennis Hopper is so over the top he makes you wish you never started watching; but you can't take your eyes off him for fear he'll creep up behind you and do something unimaginably horrific to you.

Good stuff thumbs up

And Laura Dern being very over the top with the crying.

x Billy_Tascademo All lynch is pretty over the top though.

I think the horrible, baby-doll Dern crying face is deliberate. He does a similar thing in Mullholland Drive with some really deliberate horrific acting. It almost becomes stagey and theatrical, like a really ornate nightmare.

Or maybe it's just not that clever. I like to think it is.

Yeah, I think its on purpose. No actress worth shit would put herself through looking that supid unless she had to.

You never see anything like that in any other movie she's done. Although having said that she did a very good impression of complete and utter disbelief in Jurassic Park when they first encountered the dinosaurs.

x another Lynch movie x
x Jess In Wild at Heart, there was a scene where she smoked a whole cigarette in one drag and they had to do multiple takes of her taking enormous drags to do it. She was a non-smoker and felt pretty ill by the end of the day.

That sounds about right. Twin Peaks mania hit my school, and you had to have seen it to be cool. If you hadn't you were shunned.

For that reason alone I refused to watch it. I refused to conform.

It wasn't until a friend of mine got the whole set about three years later that I started watching it.

(and to be honest I reckon half the retarded oh-I'm-so-popular bints at my school didn't fucking understand it anyway)

x Jess But I think half of the fun was trying to figure it out. I remember lots of ppl talking about it. And in the paper they wrote what some of the symbolism was supposed to mean. Like the log lady was supposed to represent Christ or christianity.. But back then I don't think we got it on tv at our house.. Anyway, I don't remember watching it until a friend had it on video and we spent about a week going thru the whole thing. I was never so depressed and freaked out about a show.. (mainly because I'd already seen Fire Walk with Me and knew how it was going to end) lol
