Leap Year Festival in Prahran - Friday February 29th
Leap Year Festival - Friday February 29th in Prahran By Sea
Originally published on

Hosted in a private laneway under starry skies, this sort of celebration only happens every four years.

Leap years only come around every four years, and we are close to welcoming the next one. Celebrate the winding down summer under the starry skies with live music, and DJs spinning hip-hop, drum & bass, downtempo, breaks, idm, dubstep and more. We'll have a bar, a BBQ. Admission is free, but the party is invite only. You're welcome to bring guests. Drinks by donation. It will look cool and sound great. Sunset to sunrise, a one of a kind night in a chilled out laid back vibe.

Acts include...

CAMMO

Cammo has helped pioneer the dubstep movement in Melbourne and is largely respected in hip hop, reggae and drum & bass circles. He'll be dropping some of the phattest beats you'll hear out, and the reason dubstep is the fastest rising new genre in underground music.

IDES

Ms. Ides' breakbeat institution Got Funk? recently celebrated its fourth anniversary of throwing funky breaks parties around Melbourne. One of her lesser known traits is that she possesses a phenomenal downbeat collection, which she'll be dusting off for a rare moonlit set.

HEPTUNE

Heptune has one of the sickest collections of hip hop in the city and is an impressive selector who serves numerous residencies at some of the city's hottest spots. He may even jump on the mic for a bit of live freestyling. Possibly joined by special Melbourne hip hop guests on the mic.

KARA - LIVE

One half of the Cubist & K contingent, Kara will be performing live recorder atop dubstep and drum & bass beats, while adding vocals when appropriate. A haunting fusion of live and digital beats.

PARANOID EDGE

Paranoid Edge also owns a terrific downbeat collection, some of which he'll be dropping this evening. He's better known as a drum & bass DJ and promoter of an occasional up-and-coming spotlight night at Laundry.

I-ELEMENT

i-Element has graced several Off Beats with his fusion of blipped out electronica, dubstep, and hip-hop breaks.

OFF BEAT SOUNDSYSTEM - LEPHRENIC & SEA

For well over a year, Lephrenic & Sea have hosted their regular Off Beat, now weekly Thursday evenings at Horse Bazaar in the city. Off Beat provides a stage for the brilliant sounds you know and love, but never get to hear out.. as well as an unrelenting wall of new, little-known music from around the world. IDM, trip-hop, instrumental hip-hop, ambient, space rock, dubstep, atmospheric drum & bass, 3/4, orchestral and anything goes are a part of your evening's sonic backdrop.
